At Signature we believe in making a contribution to our community and to our stakeholders. We want our stakeholders to be better off with Signature than with out us. In fact, our mission statement expresses this desire;

Safety

Our people are our greatest asset and we believe that leading them to create a safe work environment is our responsibility. Safety doesn’t just happen. It is evident when everyone is involved in defining it and promoting awareness. That is why we have involved a team of our associates as the core of our Safety Team. This group has defined what safety is today at Signature.



Health

We believe that good health can lead to an enjoyment of life. In 2007 we started an associate wellness initiative.  We hope to be an influence in the workplace and in the community as we help to focus people on living healthy, productive lives.  So far this year our people have taken part in two competitive wellness events.  Our motto, "Feeling Great in 2008."



Environmental Stewardship Philosophy

Proper disposal of cabinet finishing by-products is one area of focus for us.  Over the years we have partnered with environmental services to assist us in this endeavor, not as the result of government regulation, but because it’s the right thing to do as stewards of the environment we have been entrusted with.

We have worked with our largest supplier to reduce the amount of packaging material used for our incoming raw-material shipments. The remaining necessary cardboard packaging is compressed, baled and recycled to be used again in some other way.

Wood by-products are created during any cabinet manufacturing process. At Signature we have chosen to keep this material from polluting area landfills. Our sawdust is donated to local farmers as bedding for their dairy cattle operation. Our wood scrap is given to a nearby nursery and is used as fuel to heat their greenhouses.

Longevity and durability of product are important considerations when considering cabinetry. Cabinetry which is poorly crafted or built with cheap materials will need to be replaced more often. This negatively impacts the environment by requiring additional resources to manufacture new products and necessitating disposal of the old. At Signature our cabinetry is well built and long lasting; engineered for generations of use and durability. This means less resources are needed for replacement cabinetry and our landfills are left with less waste. We support sustainable forestry initiatives and the use of Forest Stewardship Council certified hardwoods. The craftsmen and artisans at Signature are passionate about our craft and we are committed to excellence and sustainability, knowing it will benefit our customers today and future generations in the years to come.
